Taxis for Albert, council shells out £240,000

BIRMINGHAM City Council spent nearly £240,000 on taxis last March, official data reveals.

The figures show the biggest beneficiary of the council’s taxi spending was Elmdon Cars, which up picked fares worth £24348.

However other firms did well with Car Van and Minibus World billing £22825.44, Star Cars picking up £22803, Beaufort Cars £20752 and Castle Cars £18913.

The council’s overall spending for the month was £153,547,885 with the biggest supplier being buildings and property company Acivico, which invoiced the council £14,388,791 in that month.

Please note: The figures only refer to invoices in excess of £500, overall spending is likely to be higher.
